Question 1

What is Repolit?

Accepted Answer

Repolit is an AI codebase intelligence platform. Paste a public GitHub repository URL (or upload a folder or .zip) and Repolit analyzes it to produce a codebase health score, an interactive architecture map, a security review, a developer onboarding guide, bug root-cause analysis, and code translation — so you can understand an unfamiliar codebase in minutes instead of days.

Question 2

How does Repolit analyze a repository?

Accepted Answer

You give Repolit a GitHub URL or upload your code. It reads the repository structure and source files, then runs AI analysis across multiple dimensions and streams the results back live — the architecture diagram, the health score with evidence, security findings, and onboarding guidance.

Question 3

Is Repolit free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Anonymous visitors can analyze one repository with no account, and a free account lets you save your analyses and scan more repositories. Repolit is available as a web app, a CLI, and a VS Code extension.

Question 4

What does the codebase health score measure?

Accepted Answer

The health score is a composite across seven weighted dimensions: security (22%), code quality (18%), testing (18%), documentation (15%), dependencies (12%), architecture (8%), and maintainability (7%). Each dimension is graded A–F from concrete evidence found in the repository, with specific, actionable improvement suggestions.

Question 5

Which programming languages does Repolit support?

Accepted Answer

Repolit analyzes repositories across common programming languages, and its code translation feature converts code between 18+ programming languages while preserving intent.

Question 6

Can I run Repolit locally without sending my code to the cloud?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Repolit CLI (`npm i -g repolit-cli`) has an offline mode — press Tab or launch with `--offline` — that analyzes a local folder entirely on your machine, with no network and no AI, so private or air-gapped code never leaves your disk.

Question 7

Does Repolit have a CLI and a VS Code extension?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Install the CLI with `npm i -g repolit-cli` for terminal-native analysis (with an offline mode for private code), and use the Repolit VS Code extension for IDE-integrated intelligence — in addition to the web app at repolit.online.

Question 8

How is Repolit different from just reading the README?

Accepted Answer

A README tells you what the authors chose to document. Repolit derives an architecture map from the actual code, grades the repository across seven health dimensions with evidence, surfaces security findings, and generates a day-by-day onboarding plan — the structural understanding a README rarely provides.

Question 9

Is Repolit open source?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Repolit's source is available on GitHub under the MIT license.
